Vision

Values

Each time a child enters or moves through the foster care system, they may only have the clothes on their backs. They are not only entering a new home but often a new school. These are moments of extreme vulnerability, stress, and are often traumatic.

Unfortunately, their first placement is not always their last. 44% of California kids in the system move 3 times or more in 2 years; 15% move 5 times or more. Set To Thrive eases those moments by providing a custom bag filled with new, brand name essentials to help set each child on a path to thrive in their new home, school, and community.

Additionally, there are more than 5,500 children in Alameda and Contra Costa County experiencing homelessness at any given time. Set To Thrive expanded our mission to include this vulnerable population to ensure they have essential items to thrive in their school and community.

Through its Thrive Bag Program, Set To Thrive provides children a custom bag - called a Thrive Bag - filled with a backpack or duffle, clothing, shoes, and hygiene items, as well as other items to help ease the transition. Through its Student Bag Program, Set To Thrive supplies students with age-appropriate school supplies, coats/hoodies, shoes, blankets, or hygiene products.

Currently serving children 0 - 19 years of age in
